About West Village Parents

West Village Parents is a group of over 650 local parents of young children living in Manhattan’s West Village and surrounding neighborhoods.  Started by local moms Nell Beckerman and Pam Gold, our goal is to strengthen our community by providing parents with ways to connect in our online discussion groups, and in person at our playgroups.

Covering everything from pacifiers to preschools, our members help each other out as we all figure out our paths to parenthood.  As we’ve all found out, it really does “take a village” to raise children—this group aims to make the whole thing just a little bit easier.

Besides our main discussion board, we also have a Classifieds board for promoting businesses and selling items, as well as a Babysitter board, which is mostly populated with info from local NYU sitters.  Information about full and part-time nannies is usually traded between members on our main message board.  Our Calendar lists local free events for kids at parks and libraries, as well as member-organized playgroups and our famous cold weather Gymboree parent and child playgroups, generously sponsored by Kenny & Meris Blumstein at Corcoran.

We welcome parents living in all areas of New York City.
